Jon Simon named APS Fellow

Associate Professor Jon Simon

Jon Simon, associate professor of Physics and of Applied Physics, was elected as a 2023 American Physical Society Fellow for “significant and pioneering advances in quantum optics and quantum simulation of strongly interacting systems, including Mott insulator states, synthetic Landau levels, and Laughlin states of photons.” Simon is also director of Stanford and SLAC’s and Quantum Fundamentals, Architectures and Machines initiative (Q-FARM).

APS fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one’s professional peers. Each year, no more than one-half of one percent of the society’s membership (excluding student members) is recognized by their peers for election to the status of Fellow of the American Physical Society.
