2026 Early Career Award for Biological Physics
We’re excited to announce that the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Biological Physics has awarded the prestigious Early Career Award for Biological Physics to Applied Physics Professor Ben Good. APS cited Professor Good’s work in developing novel theoretical methods to understand the evolutionary dynamics of complex microbial communities in making the award. His research uses tools from statistical physics, population genetics, and genomics to understand the real-time evolution of microbial populations, with a particular focus on the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of large microbial communities. You can read more about this ground-breaking research here. Professor Good was also the recipient of the inaugural 2024 Philippe Meyer Prize in Theoretical Physics of Biological Systems last year, as well as the Stanford Prize in Population Genetics and Society earlier in 2025. Please join us in congratulating Professor Good on this well-deserved recognition of his inspiring work.
