Karel Urbanek and the Marvin Chodorow Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Stanford Department of Applied Physics 2025-26 Karel Urbanek and the Marvin Chodorow Postdoctoral Fellowships is an annual program aimed at recruiting young scientists of exceptional ability with the potential to do outstanding research in our department. The appointment includes 2 years of support with a competitive salary and benefits, and the competition is open to both theorists and experimentalists. The Fellowship is now open for the 2025 round, with applications due October 31, 2025.
Applications and supporting credentials must be submitted through Academic Jobs Online (AJO). The AJO listing can be found at this link. Candidates are asked to submit a curriculum vitae including a publication list, and a two-page research statement that details proposed research and possible collaborations within Applied Physics. Candidates should also arrange to have two letters of reference submitted. Candidates are required to identify one or more host faculty within Applied Physics who will serve as a faculty sponsor for the proposed research. The Stanford faculty sponsor(s) for each fellowship candidate must submit a nomination letter on behalf of the candidate. Candidates without a Stanford faculty sponsor will not be considered.
The deadline for applications for the 2025-26 competition will be 12:00 noon PST on Friday, October 31, 2025. We expect to be able to make offers to successful candidates by mid-December. Appointments are expected to begin during the period June – December, 2026.
